Before we cut, we talk
Hair structure, colour history and the time you have in front of the mirror in the morning: we clarify these three things before scissors or colour come into play.
What the consultation covers
Hair, wish and everyday life
A cut that looks right in the salon but not at home usually has less to do with the scissors than with a question nobody asked beforehand.

The hair
We look at structure, density and growth direction while the hair is dry and feel the scalp. Freshly washed, blow-dried hair reveals less than hair in its natural state – feel free to come exactly as you leave the house in the morning.

The wish
Pictures help more than words. Bring two or three photos that you like – we'll tell you honestly what's achievable on your hair, what will take several appointments, and what we'd advise against.

Everyday life
Five minutes in the morning, or twenty? For a bike helmet, the office, or shift work? This determines how much structure a cut needs and how close together the appointments will be.
How the consultation works
From taking a seat to the plan
The first roughly 15 minutes of every appointment are for the conversation – at the mirror station, with dry hair, before the cape even goes on.
-
1. Arriving and listening
You tell us what bothers you about your hair and what should stay. We ask about your last cut, about colour, bleaching, straightening or perms – including anything further back.
-
2. Looking at and feeling the hair
We check growth direction, ends and scalp on dry hair. For colour requests, we hold the colour swatch fan directly against your strand, not on the table – light and skin tone play a part too.
-
3. Comparing options
There's usually more than one solution. We lay out two to three options side by side, with duration, care effort and price range – and tell you what a single appointment can't achieve.
-
4. Deciding and recording
We only begin once you agree. What we do is noted in your file: colour formula, cut lengths, products used. Next time, we build on that.
Consultation on colouring and balayage
Colour needs more than a desired shade
How light a result turns out isn't decided by the swatch fan, but by what was in the hair before – which is why we test on a single strand before every first-time colouring.

A photo from the internet shows a result, but never the path to it. Previously coloured hair, remnants of bleach or henna change how colour takes. We check this before we promise anything.
- Strand test on a hidden section before the first colouring
- Starting level and desired shade checked side by side on the head
- Clear guidance on whether one appointment is enough or two sessions are needed
- Care effort at home and regrowth rhythm explained openly
- Advice on when we'd advise against a particular wish
Who sits in our chair
Three occasions, three conversations
A first-time visitor needs different questions than someone whose colour formula has been on file with us for years – and a bride needs both, plus a timeline.

New Clients
For your first appointment, we schedule extra time for a proper conversation. We create your client card, note your starting situation and any previous treatments, and stay deliberately a little more cautious the first time than you might expect.

Regular Clients
Your colour formula, cutting lengths and products are all on file. The conversation becomes shorter and more precise: what has worked since your last visit, what hasn't, and whether anything about your hair is currently changing.

Wedding Couples
Here, consultation begins months in advance. We talk about the dress, veil, time of day and weather, arrange a trial appointment and determine when the colour and cut should take place before the big day.
