Five services make up our everyday work at Deichstraße – from a quick men's cut to an updo that has to hold on the wedding morning.
Women's haircut
From bob to long layers. We first look at how your hair falls, then cut accordingly – wet or dry, depending on texture.
Men's haircut
Classic with scissors, short with clippers, or something in between. Beard contours can be tidied up on request.
Colouring
Root touch-up, full colour or a tone-on-tone result. Beforehand, we check hair condition and starting colour together in the mirror.
Balayage
Freehand-applied lightening for soft transitions that grow out well. The roots stay deliberately darker.
Bridal styling
Updo or loose styling, with a trial appointment beforehand if you wish. We note down the chosen style for the wedding day.

How your appointment works
Every appointment with us begins seated and dry, not at the basin. We take a look at your hair, how it has grown, how it falls, and what the previous colour has left behind. Only then do we decide what makes sense on that day.
For a men's cut, we allow around 30 to 45 minutes, for a women's cut about an hour, for colour with a cut two to three hours, and for a balayage, depending on the starting colour, even longer.
We ask about your daily routine: how much time your styling can take in the morning, whether you blow-dry or air-dry, how often you wash your hair. We also check your hair structure, crown pattern, hairline and, for colour, your base tone as well as any remnants of previous colouring. From these points we develop our recommendation – including honest feedback if a desired result needs more than one appointment.
For cuts, we wash with a shampoo suited to the scalp and avoid heavy conditioning that would make the hair slip while cutting. For colour, the hair stays dry and unwashed, as the natural sebum film protects the scalp. The sections are divided, the colour freshly mixed, and the hairline is treated gently.
Cutting is done in sections from bottom to top, with contours finished last on dry hair so the line falls exactly where it should. For colouring, we work the roots and lengths separately, since the roots lighten faster due to scalp warmth. For balayage, we paint freehand without foil so the transition blends softly. We check the processing time by looking at the hair, not just the clock.
After rinsing, colour treatments are finished with an acidic sealer that closes the cuticle layer again and keeps the colour stable. We then blow-dry or style the hair and show you exactly how to recreate the result at home – which product amount, which direction, which order.
Finally, we note down the formula used and the interval at which the cut will need refreshing. This way, we can make precise adjustments next time instead of starting from scratch. You can book your follow-up appointment right away; Thursday and Friday evenings in particular fill up quickly.
Colour
Colouring or balayage
Both approaches lead to lighter or altered colour, but they behave completely differently in everyday life. A full colouring applies an even colour across the whole head, including the roots.
Balayage – French for 'sweeping' – places light sections freehand into the lengths and ends, while the roots stay natural. Which path suits you depends less on the desired look and more on how often you want to come back.
Coloration
- Covers grey hair evenly, even close to the roots
- Result is predictable and can be repeated exactly
- Short appointment time: root colour with cut usually under two hours
- Regrowth becomes visible after four to six weeks
- Regular touch-ups needed, otherwise a hard line appears
Balayage
- Grows out softly, allowing longer gaps between appointments
- Lightened sections can be tailored to face shape and cut
- The roots stay untouched, which is gentle on the scalp
- Longer appointment, with dark starting hair sometimes two sessions
- Grey hair is blended in, but not fully covered

Bridal styling with trial appointment
A wedding hairstyle isn't created on the morning of the wedding, but at the trial appointment beforehand.
There we check whether the style actually holds with your hair length and density, how a veil, comb or flowers can be worked in, and how the style looks over many hours and in the wind by the Elbe. We document the result with photos from every angle, so nothing has to be reinvented on the day itself.
