For us, cut, contours and styling belong together and are not charged separately. We look at your dry hair first, because whorls, hairline and growth direction only become visible then.

What we focus on when cutting
Four things determine whether a short cut works day to day: the shape on the head, the edges, the transitions and the styling afterwards.
Cut to head shape
We place the shape where your head carries it: the back of the head, temples and top are each adjusted individually, not by template. Whorls and growth direction also determine the length.
Contours at the neck
The neck, temples and ear area are outlined by hand. On request, the neckline stays soft rather than sharply defined – this grows out less noticeably.
Clean transitions
From the short base to the longer top, we work seamlessly across several cutting lengths. No visible edge between clipper and scissors.
Styling for everyday life
At the end, we show you which product and technique will bring the shape back into form in two minutes each morning. We practise this with you once.
The edge makes the difference
We outline the neck and temples freehand, without a template. These few centimetres are the first thing others notice about a short cut – and the first thing that looks untidy after three weeks.
Step by step
The process in the chair
Every men's cut follows the same sequence with us – from the first look at hair growth to the finished styling. This way you know in advance what will happen and don't need to negotiate anything in the chair.
We look at growth direction, hair density, crown whorls and hairline, and ask how you wear your hair day to day: with product or without, parted or combed back, helmet or cap. The cut shape follows from this, not the other way round.
Washing takes place at the basin with a shampoo suited to your scalp – degreasing for a hairline that oils up quickly, mild for a feeling of tightness or dandruff. Wet hair can be parted into sections more precisely and cut more evenly.
We shorten the lengths with scissors, and the short areas at the sides and back of the head with clippers as desired. We work out the transitions between short and long in stages, and remove bulk from dense hair on the inside with thinning shears, without losing the outer line.
We shape the neck and ear contours freehand at the end – softly fading out if the regrowth shouldn't be noticeable, or clearly defined for a sharp line. We align the transition to the beard at the cheeks.
Hair falls differently dry than wet, so we check the shape once more and correct individual tips. Afterwards, we style the cut in a way you can recreate yourself, and tell you how much product you'll need.
Craftsmanship
How to recognise quality
A men's cut only shows its true work after two to three weeks. These are the points we check before the final look in the mirror – and they're also things you can use to judge a cut yourself.
- The transition from the short sides to the length on top shows no visible edge and no light stripe.
- Both sides of the head are the same length – we check in the mirror and with our fingers, not by eye from one side.
- The neckline follows the natural hairline instead of cutting straight across it, so it grows out less noticeably.
- The whorl lies flat and doesn't stand up after drying.
- The ends are not bluntly chopped but lightly thinned, so the shape is preserved as it grows out.
- The cut can be styled in a few minutes in the morning without a round brush.
