From your call to the first cut

Four steps lie between your request and the moment the scissors begin — and at every one of them, we talk with you, not about you.

  1. 1

    Request an appointment

Call us during opening hours on +49 40 66969105 or write to hallo@salon-scherenwerk.invalid. All appointments are by arrangement, including your first visit.

  2. 2

Tell us your wishes and hair history

Let us know which service you'd like – cut, colouring, balayage or bridal styling – and whether your hair has already been dyed, bleached or straightened. We'll then schedule the right amount of time.

  3. 3

    Arrival at Deichstraße 5

Please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled time. There's room for your jacket and bags at your seat, and we'll bring you something to drink before we begin.

  4. 4

    Consultation at your seat

We look at your hair while it's dry, discuss your wishes, the effort involved and at-home care, and let you know the price. The treatment only begins once you've agreed.

Planning

Time needed and price range

So that you can plan your day, we tell you how much time to expect right when you book your appointment. A men's haircut usually takes half an hour to forty-five minutes, while a women's cut with wash, cut and finish takes about an hour.

A root colour touch-up takes around 90 minutes, because the colour needs time to develop after application. We schedule three to four hours for a balayage — the freehand lightening of individual strands without a hard root line — depending on your starting colour and length.

What determines the price

  • Hair length and volume: Long or very thick hair needs more colour, more care product, and more time for drying and finishing.
  • Starting colour: We lighten dark-coloured hair in several steps. This may mean a second appointment, so the hair structure isn't overstressed.
  • Scope of the colour technique: A root colour is smaller in scope than a full-length balayage, while a foil highlighting technique falls somewhere in between.
  • Additional services: Care treatments, eyebrow shaping, or an elaborate finish are charged separately and announced in advance.
  • Bridal styling: This includes a trial appointment, where the style and its longevity are tested in a relaxed setting.

Before your appointment

How to come well prepared

You don't need to bring anything — but a few small things make the first appointment calmer and the result more precise. Especially with colour, any information about what's previously been in your hair helps us.

This helps us

  • Two or three photos of hairstyles you like — a picture says more than "a bit shorter"
  • When you last coloured, tinted, or bleached your hair and with what, including drugstore care products
  • Your hair the way you normally wear it — unstyled shows us the natural fall, dry shampoo doesn't
  • A note about sensitive scalp, allergies, or medications that may affect colour absorption
  • A little extra time for your first visit, since the initial consultation takes longer

Directions and arrival

The salon is located in Hamburg's old town and is easiest to reach by public transport. If you're driving, we recommend using a nearby car park, as the streets around the salon have restricted parking. Feel free to arrive five minutes before your scheduled time — that leaves room for your jacket, cloakroom, and a drink before we start the consultation.
