Preparing bridal styling in peace and quiet
From the initial consultation through the trial appointment to the morning of the wedding: we finalise colour, cut and style early enough that nothing is left open on the day itself.
Overview
What's settled before the wedding day
Our preparation runs in fixed stages: first the consultation about dress and hair, then colour and cut, and finally the trial appointment.
The schedule at a glance
- The trial appointment always takes place before the wedding day, never on the day itself – leaving time to adjust the style if needed.
- We plan colouring, regrowth and cut with enough lead time so the colour has settled and the cut has grown in by the wedding day.
- Dress, veil, hair accessories and earrings are part of the conversation, because the neckline and nape determine the shape of the style.
- At the trial appointment, we note down products, pinning sequence and parting height in writing and follow this note on the wedding morning.
- We agree on start time, order and duration for the morning in advance – even when a maid of honour or mother is also being styled.
- Appointments are arranged by phone on +49 40 66969105 or by email to hallo@salon-scherenwerk.invalid.
Preparation process
From enquiry to wedding morning
We work through the preparation in five stages. Each has its own appointment, and none of them falls on the wedding day itself.
-
Enquiry and appointment series
You give us the wedding date and the time of the ceremony. We then set the entire series of appointments: consultation, colour, cut, trial appointment and the morning itself. All appointments by arrangement – ideally in one phone call.
-
Consultation
We look at photos of the dress, veil and hair accessories, check hair length, density and texture, and discuss two or three directions that suit your hair – worn down, half-up or pinned up.
-
Colour and regrowth
We schedule colouring or balayage with lead time before the trial appointment, so the colour can settle and the regrowth is right on the wedding day. The ideal interval depends on your hair growth and is determined during the consultation.
-
Cut
The cut comes after the colour and before the trial appointment, so it has grown in by the wedding. We only refresh ends and contours shortly before the day if needed.
-
Trial appointment
We style the look fully once, with veil and hair accessories. We record the pinning sequence, products and time required in writing, and photograph the result from all sides.
-
Wedding morning
On the day itself, we follow the note from the trial appointment. Start time and order are fixed in advance, so you leave the salon with a buffer before the ceremony.
Hair colour and shape
Colour and cut need lead time
Freshly applied colour looks cooler and more intense in the first few days than it will later. A fresh cut sits stiffer until it has settled.

Arrangements for the wedding morning
On the wedding morning, the order determines how calm things stay in the salon. That's why we fix in advance who sits in the chair when.
Three things settled in advance
Start time and buffer
We work backwards from the time of the ceremony and set the start time so that there is still some breathing room between the finished hairstyle and departure. The exact time depends on your day's schedule and is set at the trial appointment.
Who else gets styled
The maid of honour, mother or sister can be styled the same morning. We need the number of people in advance, as this determines the total duration and the order – the bride is always last.
The notes from the trial appointment
The pinning sequence, number of pins, products, root height and photos from every angle are ready in the morning. This way, the hairstyle you saw at the trial appointment is recreated – not a new variation.

When we schedule bridal appointments
We like to schedule trial appointments for the quiet morning hours, so there's enough time for the veil and pinning work.

Preparation
Checklist for the trial appointment
Please bring as much as possible to the trial appointment that belongs with your hair on the wedding day.
What to bring
- Veil or headpiece in the original – weight and comb position determine where the updo needs to sit
- Photos of the dress, especially of the neckline, back and nape
- Hair accessories, clips and pins you'd like to wear, including borrowed or inherited pieces
- Earrings and necklace, so the hairstyle doesn't cover them
- Two or three picture ideas, feel free to include examples you explicitly don't like
- Your own styling products, if you're used to certain ones
- Wedding day schedule with ceremony time, photo shoot and travel routes
Good to know
- Come with dry, not freshly washed hair – no dry shampoo or hairspray.
- Allow around two hours for the trial appointment, questions included.
- Wear a top that doesn't need to go over your head – buttoned tops work better.
- Feel free to bring someone along: two perspectives help with the decision.
- We document the result with photos from several angles.
