Answers before your appointment
How an appointment is arranged, how long it takes, how a colour consultation works and how much lead time bridal styling requires – the six questions we hear most often on the phone.
Booking appointments
Every slot is booked individually.
We work without a waiting bench: for every visit we reserve a fixed time window, so no one is squeezed in between two appointments.
Scroll table sideways
| Service | Planned time window | How to get an appointment |
|---|---|---|
| Men's haircut | approx. 30 to 45 minutes | short notice, often within the same week |
| Women's cut with wash and blow-dry | approx. 60 to 75 minutes | by phone or via the contact form |
| Root colouring | approx. 90 minutes | with a brief chat when booking |
| Balayage | approx. 2.5 to 3.5 hours | only after a prior colour consultation |
| Bridal styling including trial appointment | Trial approx. 90 minutes, appointment on the day approx. 2 hours | enquire several months ahead if possible |
Colouring and balayage
Colour starts at the window, not on the shelf.
Before every colouring, we look at your hair in daylight, check the roots, structure and prior treatments, and only then decide on the formula.

Feel free to bring photos to the consultation of looks you like – and even ones you explicitly don't like, as those help us too. We'll tell you openly what's achievable on your current hair in one appointment and what needs a second one.
- Come in with hair unwashed since the day before – this protects the scalp better
- Tell us about any previous colouring, henna or home lightening in the last twelve months
- For balayage, plan for half a day, not just a lunch break
- For root touch-ups, expect a refresh every six to eight weeks
Six questions, six clear answers
- How do I book an appointment? By phone on +49 30 23125105 or by email to hallo@salon-scherenwerk.invalid – or alternatively via the form on the contact page. Let us know which service you'd like and which days of the week suit you; we'll then suggest suitable time windows. We usually reply to written enquiries within 24 hours. We can only accommodate walk-ins without an appointment if a slot happens to be free.
- How long does a visit take? That depends on the service. For a men's haircut we plan around 30 to 45 minutes, for a women's cut with wash and blow-dry 60 to 75 minutes. Root colouring takes about 90 minutes, and balayage, depending on length and starting colour, 2.5 to 3.5 hours. We reserve the time window firmly so you don't have to wait in between. Please let us know at booking if you have a follow-on appointment.
- What happens if I need to cancel? Cancelling up to 24 hours before your appointment is free of charge – a quick call is enough. Since we assign every slot individually, a very last-minute cancellation of a colour or bridal styling window usually stays empty; that's why we ask especially for long appointments to let us know early. If you're running late, please call: we'll shorten the appointment where possible rather than cancel it entirely.
- How does the colour consultation work? Every colouring and every balayage begins with a conversation at the daylight window. We look at the structure, roots and previous treatments, hold strand samples against your hair, and discuss what's achievable in one appointment and what needs two sessions. Reference photos are welcome. The finished formula is noted with the date on your client card, so the result can be tracked next time.
- What does an appointment cost? Current prices can be found on the Prices page. For cuts, they depend on length and effort; for colour, also on hair length and amount of colour used – that's why we tell you the price after the consultation and before the first cut, not just at the till. If anything changes during the appointment, such as an additional treatment, we discuss it with you beforehand.
- How much lead time does bridal styling need? Please enquire several months before your wedding date if possible, especially for Saturdays in peak season. Bridal styling includes a trial appointment of around 90 minutes, during which we go through the hairstyle, hold and veil or accessories; on the wedding day itself we plan for about two hours. Details on the process can be found on the Bridal Styling page.

Before your visit
Well prepared for your appointment
A few small things save time in the chair and help us achieve your desired result more precisely.
- Come with dry, unstyled hair – we'll wash it here, and styling products from the day before interfere with colour absorption.
- Bring two to three pictures you like, and if possible one you don't.
- Tell us about previous colourings, henna or straightening treatments – they affect how colour reacts in the hair.
- Let us know how much time you'd like to spend on styling each day.
- For balayage and bridal styling, allow some buffer time after the appointment.
